Human Rights
One of the five social issues to be addressed by FCC Norman and its Social Justice Committee
Human Rights are inherent rights, for all human beings, regardless of status. In the United States, rights widely recognized include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more. Our commitment to human rights in Norman focuses on creating an equitable community where dignity and respect are universal rights, not privileges. Our congregation embraces restorative justice principles that emphasize healing and growth over punishment while working to ensure every community member has fair access to opportunities and resources. We envision Norman as a place where diversity strengthens our community, where injustice is met with action, and where every person feels safe to live authentically.
